1779 Declaration

The “State of State” Notary version is the fastest way to record and publish your 1779 Declaration; and the difference is in the Notary section on the second page. It is faster because you will have your documents notarized (recorded) locally, at your earliest convenience, at your bank, UPS Store, tag agency, or any other local business offering notary services. After the documents are notarized, you will then mail them to your Oklahoma Recording Secretary to be published on the Land Recording Office system (LRO).

The “Recording Secretary” version requires the Recording Secretary to both record and publish your documents. If you live in the same city as your Recording Secretary, then this would be the most efficient method. However, as most people live in a different city than their Recording Secretary, this method would require scheduling a video conference call with the Recording Secretary so that they can remotely witness the autographing of the document. Later, when the documents are mailed to the Recording Secretary, they are then recorded (Notary signature & seal) and published to the LRO at the same time. Depending on availability, and how long it takes to find a day that works for you and the Recording Secretary, scheduling a video conference call could take a couple of weeks. In the interest of the Recording Secretary’s available time, this option is only recommended if the “State of State” option does not suit your situation.
